Bodybuilders often research how to block estrogen due to the amount of testosterone generated by their lifestyle. They try to use estrogen blockers to help prevent gynecomastia, or the dramatic inflammation of the male breast. There are a few products out there that can help prevent the build up of estrogen in a bodybuilding routine. The products that are in this article are comprised of a couple of prescription products and a couple of over the counter (OTC) products that you can get a hold of.
Arimidex its generic name is Anastrozole and it was initially developed to help women prevent breast cancer. Essentially it is well known that the cause of breast cancer or the lump masses that are generated by it are caused by an increase in Estrogen production. The thought was that if the estrogen could be blocked then it could cause a reduction in breast cancer victims. This theory was not proved as a matter of fact but it was given that 65% of the women treated with Anastrozole or some variant compound wound up not acquiring the disease.
Novadex is typically used by bodybuilders as a post cycle treatment or PCT. This however is an inaccurate use of the product and is not who it was designed to treat. While similar in composition to Anastrozole it should be used in a similar context for the reduction of estrogen in men suffering from gynecomastia or for women wanting pre-treatment for breast cancer.
Over The Counter Estrogen Blockers
Over The Counter (OTC) Estrogen Blockers – there are a few OTC estrogen blockers such as EstroBlox, or DIM however the primary element you are looking for are the natural estrogen blocker ingredients in each product to help you establish which one is right for you. First off you want to look for pomegranate powder, tonkat ali, and dijndolyl methane. However if you are looking for a purely organic estrogen blocker then dijndolyl methane would be out as it is a synthesized product not found purely in nature.
Prior to using an estrogen blocker you should review your workout goals. Are you trying to gain mass? if so this product most likely will NOT help you as blocking estrogen does not necessarily increase testosterone. If you are looking to increase testosterone then you need a test booster not an estrogen blocker.
If you feel that you do in fact want to block estrogen then we recommend that you begin with an OTC first. However it is an emergency then speak with your doctor and discuss gynecomastia treatment options.
