Your goal is to maximize your metabolic response to exercise. Just doing sit ups, leg lifts and stomach crunches are not all that effective for losing belly fat but done in conjunction with a cardio exercise such as brisk walking or running will help.

The Right Diet Is A Major Plus

Diet is a big part of losing weight. To lose body fat requires expelling more calories than you take in. Increase your intake of fat burning foods such as those high in protein. It takes more energy to burn protein than it does to burn fat. Refined carbohydrates cause fat to build around your waist. Minimize the buildup of fat by eliminating as much as possible refined carbohydrates. Eating smaller, less calorie laden meals 4 to 6 times per day is better for your metabolism than eating 3 meals per day. Eating more fiber, such as oatmeal, fruits and vegetables will fill your body with fuel without adding a lot of calories and fat.

No Easy Answer

There is no easy, magical miracle cure to lose belly fat and tone up your abs. It is the result of a consistent combination of proper diet and exercise. Results will not happen overnight. It will take a little bit of time and require some patience before results are seen. But if you have a plan in place for the long term and stick to it, you will stay in great shape and have a body others will envy.
